I have been enjoying playing these games on Facebook recently that are for Uber multitaskers. I multitask very well so they are right up my aisle.
The thing is, that for as fun as these games are- they are formulated for the instant gratificationers, and the waiting period in the games make it tedious.
As a player you get anxious and the more you play, the more space you want to build out , the more your eye roams towards those special ‘dollars’ that they offer. You know- the perks of special items that only the game dollars can buy… you can buy your way through the game but… it will cost you.
So where once this was a free, fun loving game that all of your Facebook buddies play- it is now a race to get the bigger better levels and items and that will cost any of two things. Your identity or your money. You can pull out your wallet and buy the special dolalrs or… complete any of their hundreds of special offers from sponsers and get dollars that way.
FIll out surveys, sign a contract for Comcast, purchase a subscription to books or magazines or to get the joke-of-the-day texted to your phone (only $25 a month and service charges may apply). Not only that, but you are guarenteed in the fine print they say they sell your information.
Along with this temptation for special ‘bucks’, they force you to invite every person on your buddy list and spam them in order to get farther in the game- therefore resuming the cycle of temptation. The teasers, the bonuses, the gifts and the expansions.
You know these game applications are rolling in the dough!
So my big question for you guys is this… Have you been tempted enough to actually purchase or fill out offers for dollars for any of the games on facebook? Be honest!
And which game was it? How much did you spend and was it worth it?
